Hi! Welcome, let's spill the [coffee] beans together: This is Café Isolde!
Over the last few years, I have increasingly struggled to find my voice online. More specifically, connecting with and dissecting my content effectively and timely has resulted in a case for afterthought. Short-form content (especially videos and TikTok) overwhelms me - although I see it as a personal challenge to do it in a way that feels true to me (TikTok ban impending)- Conversely, writing is a cathartic creative outlet for me and a quintessential pastime. Biting the bullet and launching my page through Substack to grow and foster an online community felt like an ideal transition and a natural next step. I'm here to populate the internet with nuanced content I wish existed or wouldn't necessarily stumble upon!
Café Isolde is your bi-weekly dispatch of fashion commentary, design inspiration, and beauty insights —along with some personal essays that shall be sprinkled throughout.— I don't want to box this newsletter in and constrict it to any specific category, but if you are to expect certain motifs in my writing themes, consider those mentioned above as the pillars of this blog. They finally all found a permanent home and are here to be wrapped into one [with a ribbon on it.]
A brief introduction into who I am and my background is due, —pending you are not finding yourself here because you already follow me on Instagram.—
Born a creative at heart, I pursued a double BFA in Fashion Marketing and Graphic Design at The Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), graduating in 2016. Since then, I've delved into Social Media Marketing and Content Creation, drawn by my love for storytelling through visual language, contemporary aesthetics, and creative writing.
Most of what I do in my life involves taking on a new perspective to unveil a completely different edge about the things I love —A vuja-de of some sort— seeking to constantly re-imagine the experience I and those around me can have with what is industriously familiar. The things I love? Early on, I realized that much of what I admire in life is either a product or by-product of human action or human design: fashion, art, beauty, interiors, ballet... Why it matters? I'm a big fan of two words: Intention and empiricism > to pursue the unintended and to strive to learn by doing.
The beauty of emergent phenomena and my Latin-American roots, combined with their rich heritage, history, and essence, fuel my creative endeavors and design journey, and I couldn't be more thrilled to actively carve out my little corner of the world through this big digital ether!
So excited to connect, welcome <3
